The California High-Speed Rail Authority will hold a public meeting April 5 to offer updates on construction of the first leg of the project and to answer questions from community members.

From 5-7 p.m., attendees of the “open house” at the Fresno fire station at 911 H St. will hear from experts on Construction Package 1, the 32-mile section of the project extending from Avenue 19 in Madera to south of East American Avenue in Fresno.

Eventually, the plan is to build a high-speed rail line between Los Angeles and San Francisco, with Corridor 1 being the starting point for the construction.

The corridor here includes 20 grade separations, three viaducts, a trench and a major river crossing.
