Fresno City Councilmember Garry Bredefeld will unveil the “In God We Trust” motto in the council chambers Thursday at 1 p.m.
On May 11, the council voted unanimously for Bredefeld’s resolution to place the national motto on the wall behind the council dais.
According to a news release, there are 131 cities in California that have adopted the national motto in their chambers, and Fresno is the largest city in California to do so.
No public funds for the display will be used. It will be funded with private donations.
