Tacos El Cabezon, the wildly popular Mexicali-style taco truck that took Fresno by storm last year, is set to open its first brick-and-mortar restaurant on Fulton Street in Downtown Fresno — possibly as soon as this week.

Owner Armando Arias Jr. confirmed the upcoming opening at 1234 Fulton St. — the former home of Chicken King — marking a major milestone for the business he launched just last August.

Since its grand opening on Aug. 16, 2025 at 420 W. Shaw Ave., Tacos El Cabezon has built a devoted following for its East L.A.-rooted take on Mexicali-style tacos, drawing massive crowds and generating significant buzz on social media. The truck has since relocated its regular stop to 517 W. McKinley Ave.

The new storefront is expected to showcase trompos — the traditional vertical rotating spits central to al pastor cooking in a setup that may remind some of the popular Fresno and Clovis Mediterranean spot The Broilers.

No formal announcement has been made, but social media anticipation for the Fulton location has been building for months.
