The Walgreens location at Herndon and West avenues in Fresno will close on April 28.
Pharmacy prescriptions will be moved to the location on Figarden Drive and Bullard Avenue.
Last summer, Walgreens CEO Tim Wentworth informed analysts that approximately 25% of the company’s underperforming stores would undergo changes. The pharmacy chain currently operates more than 8,600 locations across the United States.
Walgreens locations in Dinuba and Reedley are in the process of shutting down, resulting in 34 layoffs.
The Dinuba store is located at 170 W. El Monte Way. A layoff notice filed for 16 employees at that location became effective on March 9.
The Reedley location at 852 E. Manning Avenue has 18 employees whose layoffs are effective March 25.
Walgreens stores have been dealing with thin prescription reimbursement, rising costs, persistent theft and inflation-sensitive shoppers who are looking for bargains elsewhere.
Walgreens Boots Alliance recently announced that it has agreed to be acquired by the private equity firm Sycamore Partners.
