The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has released its latest ratings of hospitals, with some Central Valley hospitals receiving favorable performance ratings.

Fresno Surgical Hospital received the highest rating in the Central Valley with five stars, indicating top performance on up to 64 quality measures reflecting common conditions hospitals treat, such as heart attacks or pneumonia.

The most common rating is three stars.

The overall hospital ratings were first released in August, and Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia was the only facility in the region to improve its star rating from three to four stars in the period.

“This improvement is a reflection of the efforts we have made at Kaweah Delta to improve quality of care for our patients,” said Lindsay Mann, CEO of Kaweah Delta Health Care District. “We will continue to be diligent and take advantage of every opportunity to ensure that our patients are satisfied with the care they receive. Our goal will always be to continue to improve for our patients and families.”

Here’s a list of other facilities in the region and their star rating:

Clovis Community Hospital, 2 stars
