The Fresno Police Department is an early adopter of a polling system developed as part of a social media network aimed at keeping neighborhoods safe.

Nextdoor today announced the launch of Nextdoor Polls, which allows partner agencies to gauge the concerns of citizens. One example question from the Fresno Police Department asks what is the best method for police to interact with community members (having officers on bikes was the most popular response).

The Fresno Police Department was one of 14 agencies that have piloted Nextdoor Polls over the last three months leading to today’s national launch.

The Fresno Police Department partnered with Nextdoor in 2013 to connect with more than 324 Fresno neighborhoods. The free service allows residents in a neighborhood to communicate with other residents on subjects ranging from an upcoming block party to a rash of car break-ins.
