The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is working with the Walt Disney Company– including Disney/ABC Television Group and ESPN– to help fund local park improvement projects in 16 U.S. cities through the national “Meet Me in the Park” Earth Month Campaign, which includes a park in Fresno.

The “Meet Me in the Park” campaign is an initiative that aims to provide communities with resources to improve local parks with projects that will connect children with nature, promote healthy living, and provide access to sports.

Through this initiative, one out of three park projects in Fresno will receive a $20,000 grant, leaving it up to city residents to choose which one.

From April 1 to April 30, residents will get to vote via online or through text for which projects should receive funding.

The projects are:

— F.R.O.G.(Fresno Recreation Outdoor Group) – Meet Me At The Park for Nature and Healthy Living

— Neighborhood Parks Program – Meet Me At The Park for Circuit Sports

— Youth Sports – Meet Me At The Park at Night for Youth Sports

“Fresno PARCS provides an array of programs that instill values such as good sportsmanship, hard work, and dedication.  We strive to encourage lifelong fitness and wellness. We need the community to vote for their favorite program,” noted Parvin Neloms, PARCS Director.

During April, a public service announcement supporting the Meet Me at the Park Earth Month campaign will be aired across Disney and Disney owned channels such as ESPN, ABC Television Network, and ABC-owned and affiliate stations. Radio Disney will also support the campaign with an on-air radio spot.

For more information and to To vote, visit www.NRPA.org/DisneyMeetMeAtThePark, or text PARKS to 31279 to receive a link to vote online.
