Sunny days are ahead at Fresno Pacific University (FPU) after the university received a $3 million donation. The donation aims to enhance student learning, sustainability and campus life. The funds will be used to provide laptops, upgrade classrooms and facilities, install solar panels and improve the chapel experience.
“This gift is a powerful endorsement of Fresno Pacific University’s mission and future,” said FPU President André Stephens in a news release. “We are deeply grateful to these valued partners for recognizing the impact of the changes we have made and continue to make in support of our students.”
The donation will support five key areas:
- Classroom enhancements: Four classrooms will be renovated with modern technology, updated furniture and improved infrastructure.
- Special events center upgrades: Chapel services will move to a larger venue with new seating and a video screen to enhance worship and student events.
- Solar Panels: Panels on the Warkentine Culture and Arts Center will generate $70,000 in annual energy savings and qualify FPU for federal incentives.
- Laptop Library: A new lending program will ensure students have access to essential technology.
- Budget Relief: The funds contribute to FPU’s $3.5 million goal for operational support.
FPU’s student body President, Sariya Flores, expressed excitement about the laptop library.
“The laptop library will be a game-changer,” Flores said.
The donation is from longtime donors who have chosen to remain anonymous.
“Their generosity enables us to build on 80 years of service to California’s Central Valley and beyond, preparing us for an even greater future. As the region’s only accredited Christian university, we remain committed to transforming lives, families and communities through higher education,” Stephens said.
