The City of Fresno has a new staff member with a background dedicated to driving economic growth and building vibrant communities with a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to his new role.
City Manager Georgeanne White announced the selection of Cliff Long as the City of Fresno’s new Economic Development Director.
Long most recently served in Nampa, Idaho, and has held key economic development leadership roles in Renton, Washington, and Boise, Idaho.
He has been recognized as an accomplished executive with deep expertise in strategic planning, public-private partnerships, and the cultivation of high-performing teams.
“Cliff Long is exactly the kind of visionary leader Fresno needs right now,” said White. “He is a seasoned economic development professional with the skills and passion to create meaningful economic opportunities for our residents. His ability to work with community partners and turn strategy into action will be instrumental in helping Fresno reach its full potential and ensure we’re building a resilient economy for the future.”
Long has been regarded as an expert in driving business expansion, infrastructure development and fostering regional collaboration.

His work has delivered measurable outcomes through the execution of strategic frameworks that enhance economic vitality and attract investment.
Long is known for developing initiatives that align public goals with private-sector opportunities, making him ideal to lead Fresno’s economic development strategy, according to a news release from the city.
“I am excited to join the team at the City of Fresno and work to bring new jobs and investment to this dynamic community,” Long said. “Fresno has such a fantastic economic history and an even bigger potential ahead of it.”
Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer said Long will help the city take the next big step forward.
“His proven success in both large and mid-sized cities makes him uniquely qualified to lead our economic development efforts. I’m confident he’ll bring the leadership we need to attract investment, support local businesses, and create high-quality jobs for our community,” Dyer said.
Long will officially assume his new position on May 19.
