The Fresno County Board of Supervisors recognized five nursing organization leaders Tuesday for their work supporting nurses, expanding community outreach and improving access to care for underserved Central Valley residents.

The recognition, brought forward by Supervisor Garry Bredefeld, honored Ndidi Griffin-Myers, Adriana Nole, Nikky Singh, Julie Thao and Cecilia V. Utleg. Their certificates highlighted contributions ranging from nursing scholarships and professional development to health fairs, food distribution and culturally responsive care.

Griffin-Myers, president of the Central Valley Black Nurses Association, was recognized for her commitment to health equity and her work promoting mentorship, professional development and community engagement. The board credited her with strengthening partnerships and improving access to quality care for underserved populations.

Nole, president of the Central Valley Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, was honored for her leadership in workforce development, mentorship and health policy advocacy.

The board also recognized her work at Valley Children’s Home Care, citing contributions to patient safety and culturally responsive care for families. Nole also received Valley Children’s 2025 nursing award for excellence in new knowledge, innovations and improvements, according to the health system.

Singh, president of the California Indian Nurses Association, was recognized for supporting nurses through education, mentorship, leadership development and advocacy.

Her certificate highlighted her efforts to promote cultural diversity, strengthen collaboration among health care professionals and advance compassionate, patient-centered care.

Thao, a family nurse practitioner and president of the Hmong Nurses Association’s Fresno chapter, was honored for her mentorship and support of future nurses.

The board also credited her leadership with strengthening access to care and inspiring service across the Central Valley’s diverse communities.

Utleg, president of the Philippine Nurses Association of Central California, was recognized for expanding membership, educational opportunities and professional development while supporting nursing scholarships.

Her certificate highlighted community outreach including health fairs, food distribution events, Alzheimer’s education and partnerships connecting families with health resources.
