The Progressive Home Club, a women’s organization in Fresno, is donating $155,000 to Fresno City College for scholarships.

The State Center Community College Foundation will match the donation for a total of $310,000.

The Progressive Club currently provides two $500 scholarships to re-entry students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and encourages women to apply who are returning to college for additional training or to learn new skills.

Rico Guerrero, executive director of the State Center Community College Foundation, said the $155,000 gift and its match will impact the lives of many students.

“This endowed gift from the Progressive Home Club will forever support our students and honor the legacy of an incredible women’s organization,” Guerrero said in a statement. “We are honored that the Progressive Home Club has invested in our students by providing scholarships that will have a lifelong impact.”

A check presentation will take place today at 12:45 p.m. at the Progressive Home Club building located at 2630 E. Weldon Avenue.
