There was no love amongst big cats at Fresno Chaffee Zoo today.

Zamaya, a 2-year-old female lion that is one of the new residents of zoo’s African Adventure exhibit, selected the Denver Broncos to win Super Bowl 50 on Sunday.

Zamaya had the choice of two balls emblazoned with the logos of the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos Friday morning, choosing Denver as the winner in a long-standing tradition at the zoo.

The zoo has had one of its animals predict a game winner for the last several years, racking up a success rate near 50 percent.

Last year, Lazarus the white-faced whistling duck pecked at a Seattle Seahawks blanket, while Alex the orangutan correctly picked the New York Giants in 2012, and Siabu the orangutan picked the winning Indianapolis Colts in 2010.

Zamaya is one of three lions that moved into the new African Adventure exhibit that opened last year. Zamaya hails from Zoo Atlanta along with her mother Kiki.
