(AP) — A former U.S. homeland security agent is going to prison for accepting bribes from a Korean businessman suspected of sex-slave trafficking.
Joohoon David Lee of Las Vegas was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison on Tuesday. He pleaded guilty last year.
Lee was a human trafficking investigator in Los Angeles four years ago when he interviewed a woman who claimed she was entering the United States to be a sex slave for the businessman.
Prosecutors say Lee traveled to Korea and ultimately received some $13,000 in cash, hotel expenses and entertainment from the businessman. He later wrote a report that said no evidence of human trafficking was found.
