A $100,000 gift from a Fresno family will help fund an arts pilot project called Fifth Grade on Broadway.

Murray and Francine Farber will present the gift to Fresno Unified School District officials at a press conference tomorrow on the campus of Fresno State.

The Fifth Grade on Broadway project, as named by the Farbers, partners Roosevelt High School, the Fresno County Office of Education, Fresno Arts Council, Fresno State and Fresno City College to expose fifth-graders from 15 elementary schools to high-quality theater performances.

The students will also develop a theatre production aligned with grade-level standards for all fifth grade students to attend in future years.

On Friday, as part of the Fifth Grade on Broadway project, more than 350 fifth graders will see a special production of Blue Willow, as presented by Fresno State’s University Theatre.
