The Fresno Grizzlies announced that team President Derek Frank has been added to the franchise’s ownership group.

An Avenal native, Franks has been with the team for 16 seasons, starting in 2004 as an intern. He worked his way through the sales ranks, eventually becoming executive vice president and general manager in 2014. Fresno Sports and Events, the team’s new ownership group, promoted him to president when they purchased the team last year.

“Derek demonstrates passion, trust and hard work every day, so we are so pleased to welcome him to the ownership group” said Michael Baker, managing general partner for Fresno Sports and Events. “The creativity he fosters amongst his front office staff will maintain the Grizzlies as industry leaders on the promotional front, and his professionalism and attention to detail will keep Fresno as a top shelf Triple-A affiliate for our parent club for years to come.”

Franks has overseen $3.4 million in capital improvements at Chukchansi Park for the upcoming 2019 season alone.

“This ownership group has treated Sarah and I like family since they bought the team,” said Franks. “This is a proud moment for our family. To be a part owner of the Grizzlies is a dream come true, especially since it’s my hometown club. For this to happen during a time when the long-term vision for the franchise has never been greater makes it all the more exciting.”

The Fresno Grizzlies will begin their 22nd season and their first affiliated with the Washington Nationals on April 4 against the Reno Aces (Arizona Diamondbacks).
