Global active recovery footwear company OOFOS is teaming up with Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback and Fresno favored son Derek Carr for a multi-year partnership, highlighting the importance of physical recovery in Carr’s success on the field.

The company markets OOfoam, which the Massachusetts-based company claims is scientifically proven to accelerate recovery post-performance by utilizing impact-absorbing foam technology, helping wearers feel better faster.

The foam is used in a variety of footwear styles for men and women, including sandals, shoes, clogs and slippers.

Many high performance athletes also utilized OOFOS for recovery including recently retired NFL quarterback Alex Smith, Olympic Gold Medalist and World Ski Champion Ashley Caldwell and Boston Ballet principal dancer Chyrstyn Fentroy, among others.

Carr first found the company following his 2016 injury during a game against the Indianapolis Colts, in which he broke his fibula after being sacked by Colts’ defensive end Trent Cole. In the following months of rehabilitation, the Raiders’ head athletic trainer, Chris Cortez, told Carr about OOFOS products.

“That’s how he learned about the product,” said Carr’s business manager H Koal. “Derek started wearing them and fell in love with them.”

Carr has even declined other performance footwear endorsements to continue to use OOFOS for active recovery. Featuring OOfoam, the footwear absorbs impact, reduces stress on the body and allows for more natural movement between athletic activities, according to the company.

“Recovery is the foundation of performance,” Carr said in a press release from OOFOS. “Training only leads to improvement if you give your body appropriate time to rest, recover and rebuild. Without it, you are just breaking yourself down.”

Carr is a top-flight ambassador for the company, an equity owner and has even gifted pairs of OOFOS to many of his teammates, according to the release.

“Derek Carr has been a genuine fan and user of OOFOS footwear for years, so we are thrilled to officially welcome him to the OOFOS team,” said OOFOS President Steve Gallo. “Derek exemplifies our mission and brand values through his work ethic, strength of character and commitment to giving back to his community and we look forward to working together to share the benefits of OOFOS and grow the brand.”
