For the first time in his career, Derek Carr has made Forbes’ Highest Paid Athletes list.

The Oakland Raiders’ quarterback placed at No. 19 with $40.1 million from his salary and winnings and $2 million from endorsements, according to Forbes magazine. This makes him the third highest football player on the list, following Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons and Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions.

Carr signed a $125 million, 5-year deal with the football team in 2017, paying out $40 million for that year.

“Now it’s done! From the jump I’ve wanted to be a Raider 4 life. One step closer to that! Blessed!!! Business done! Let’s just play now!!!,” Carr tweeted after signing his contract in June of that year.

When the Raiders move to Las Vegas after the 2018 season, Carr will be seeing a larger chunk of that pay in his pocket, as Nevada has no state income tax.

Derek and his brother David also run Carr Elite, an athletic training center in Bakersfield. The facility includes a football field and basketball court and teaches nutrition and fitness, as well as training for a variety of sports.

The duo has also made numerous appearances in advertising campaigns with Educational Employees Credit Union. Derek also has done ads and benefits for Valley Children’s Hospital.

Derek Carr graduated from Fresno State in 2013 and was signed to the Oakland Raiders in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
