Local moviegoers will be treated to some familiar sites when they watch “Captain Marvel,” coming to theaters March 8.

The “Captain Marvel” production spent nearly three weeks in the Shaver Lake area last May, with more than 250 cast and crew involved.

The production generated $427,000 in spending in Fresno County for lodging and local purchases, according to the Fresno County Film Commission.

It was one of 31 productions that filmed in Fresno County last year, resulting in economic impact of more than $1 million.

In addition to Shaver Lake, “Captain Marvel” also features the 144th Fighter Wing stationed at the Fresno Air National Guard Base. Multiple airmen as well as four F-15C Eagle jet fighters were used for various scenes during the production.

Filming also took place in Los Angeles, Ventura and San Bernardino counties.

“Captain Marvel” was the first Marvel Studios film to shoot primarily in California since 2013 after being selected to receive tax credits under the state’s Film & Television Tax Credit Program 2.0.
