Foresters Financial, a global life insurance company based in Canada, announced Tuesday that it will donate $50,000 to the Marjaree Mason Center as part of its member-nominated “BIG Give” contest in celebration of its 150th anniversary.

The donation, a one-time contest to honor the insurer’s history of supporting charity organizations, reflects the company’s history of donating; to celebrate its anniversary, they will donate $50,000 to one deserving charity in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

“For 150 years, Foresters has been committed to the well-being of our members,” said Foresters President and CEO Matt Berman. “The Marjaree Mason Center embodies this very spirit by providing a beacon of hope and security for victims of domestic violence. We are honored to support their critical work as they empower survivors on their healing journey.”

Foresters customers participated in the contest by submitting video appeals for their charities explaining what their selected charity means to them and the impact that the donation could make.

Earlier this year, the Marjaree Mason Center broke ground on the Isnardi Foundation Community Resource Center – a nearly 40,000 square-foot campus which will house a crisis response hotline, drop-in center, art therapy room, children’s enrichment center and housing along with additional services.

The total pricetag on the project – formerly home to Milan Institute – is approximately $21 million.

Foresters said that the passionate delivery by a local Foresters member is what resonated with the company’s selection team; the company credited the applicant with their enthusiasm and knowledge of the Marjaree Mason Center mission.

“This generous donation from Foresters Financial comes at a crucial time,” said Marjaree Mason Center CEO Nicole Linder. “The funds will allow us to sustain our critical services and reach more individuals and families impacted by domestic violence in Fresno County. We are incredibly grateful for Foresters commitment to making a difference in our community.”

Foresters Financial also provided donations of $50,000 to You Can Ride 2 in Canada as well as £50,000 to Tuberous Sclerosis Association in the UK.
