It’s going to be a busy seven days when it comes to Fresno’s restaurant and retail scene.

If grand openings are your thing, here’s a little tip sheet:

Wednesday: Walmart Ribbon Cutting, 8 a.m.

Employees have been busy relocating and stocking merchandise at the retailer’s newest location on the northwest corner of Shaw and Brawley avenues in Fresno. The 223,378-square-foot building – formerly Camp America –will nearly double the former store across Brawley that it is replacing.

Wednesday: Texas de Brazil opening

Fresno’s newest Brazilian barbecue joint, Texas de Brazil, is scheduled for a tentative opening on Wednesday, and steak will definitely be on the menu. The chain has 57 locations worldwide, and its Fresno location is in the former Chevy’s River Park space.

Monday, Oct. 29: Lazy Dog opening, 11 a.m.

One of the more hotly anticipated openings of late, Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar will get its debut in Fresno Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. at the Villaggio Shopping Center. It’s been a little more than a year since the Elephant Bar closed suddenly in that spot, and drivers along Blackstone Avenue have noted the progress of construction.
