iHeartMedia, Inc. has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will continue its operations, agreeing to pay for half of its $20 billion debt to its creditors.

Headquartered in San Antonio, iHeartMedia owns more than 850 stations, including eight in Fresno: KBOS, KHGE, and KALZ (AM/FM), KSOF, KFSO, KFBT, KCBL and KRDU.

“iHeartMedia and all our stations are operating business as usual,” said Wendy Goldberg, executive vice president and chief communications at iHeartMedia. “And listeners and fans won’t know any difference in the programming, on-air personalities and stations they love.”

Last year, Cumulus Media, Inc. in Atlanta also filed Chapter 11. Among its 446 stations across the United States are four in Fresno: KWYE-FM, KSKS, KMGV and KMJ (AM/FM).

A message left for Patty Hixson, general manager of Cumulus Media in Fresno, was not returned.
