AT&T announced today the launch of its “ultra-fast’ GigaPower Network in parts of Fresno and the Central Valley.

The 1-gigabit-per-second service is available in parts of Fresno, Clovis, Visalia and other areas.

The service is also currently available in several apartment complexes in the Fresno area, such as at The Fountains at Alluvial in Clovis.

“AT&T is committed to extending GigaPower throughout California,” said Jeni Bell, vice president and general manager, Northern California and Northern Nevada at AT&T. “Because our customers are communicating and seeking entertainment in increasingly more data-intensive ways, we are proud to now offer AT&T GigaPower in the Central Valley.”

The launch was heralded with a media event this morning at the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship on the Fresno State campus. Area community leaders were in attendance.

“For our staff and students, faster internet speeds can mean quicker access to information and more effective, bold collaboration,” said Joseph I. Castro, president, California State University, Fresno. “We’re pleased to host today’s AT&T GigaPower launch, and even more excited for the possibilities the technology opens for learning.”
