Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin will hold a live town hall television broadcast January 5, offering local residents the opportunity to be heard on several topics from jobs and adult education to downtown and neighborhood revitalization.

CBS47 will team up with ValleyPBS to bring the broadcast to homes throughout Central California. Using social network sites, the CBS47 website and traditional media, Swearengin will hear and answer questions as part of her attempts to connect with local residents.

“I appreciate the opportunity to answer questions directly from Fresno residents about the issues they care about,” Swearengin said. “This effort provides yet another avenue for our residents to connect with their city government.”

The town hall meeting will take place at the ValleyPBS studios at 1544 Van Ness Ave. in downtown Fresno. Lasting from 6 to 7 p.m., Jan. 5, the event will be broadcast live on CBS47. A rebroadcast will air on ValleyPBS later that night from 8 to 9 p.m.

Ask the Mayor Live Town Hall developed out of a series of news reports dubbed “Ask the Mayor,” which began in September 2010 and can be seen every other week on CBS47 On Your Side at 5 p.m.
