Hundreds of people working at four Amazon facilities in California will be laid off next month, including 151 in the Central Valley.

Chicago-based commercial real estate management firm Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL) plans to lay off a total of 298 workers in California, according to Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notices filed with the state in April.

The workers who perform maintenance work at the Amazon fulfillment centers are being laid off after a vendor change.

In Fresno, that means 87 workers will be out of a job effective June 14, joining 64 In Visalia, according to the WARN notice.

They will be invited to re-interview for the positions.

About 70 JLL employees at the Amazon warehouse in Stockton are also being laid off, along with 77 in Sacramento. There are also WARN layoff notices for 154 JLL employees in Kansas, 36 in Illinois and 86 in Florida associated with the business decision.

Amazon Global Real Estate and Facilities is ending its partnership with JLL, according to a statement from the online retailer.

ā€œAs part of our regular course of business, we evaluate our vendor partners based on a number of factors and make changes to meet our business needs,ā€ said Amazon Spokesperson Sam Stephenson. ā€œAs a result of a recent review, we’re changing maintenance vendors. Those who are impacted by this change will have the opportunity to interview for positions with the new vendor.ā€

Amazon didn’t respond to a follow up inquiry Friday about the name of the new vendor.
