The Valley Center for the Blind in Fresno has received a $5,000 grant from the Save Mart C.A.R.E.S. Foundation.

The center provides innovative programs for the visually impaired, including outdoor activities as well as kitchen training and computer use, to help participants live more independent lives.

C.A.R.E.S. stands for Community, Arts, Recreation, Education and Sports and focuses on improving lives under these categories. The Save Mart C.A.R.E.S. Foundation donated more than a quarter-million dollars last year to nearly three dozen organizations in California and Northern Nevada.
