Fresno radio station 93.7 KISS Country/KSKS-FM is accepting entries for its “Farm-Tastic Four” contest, which will recognize four Fresno-area young people for their achievements and involvement in agriculture, according to a news release.

The Cumulus Media station said the contest is open to children and teens ages 5 to 19, including students active in FFA, 4-H, Grange and other agricultural organizations. Parents, teachers and other adults may also submit entries on behalf of students.

Entries are being accepted through Sept. 13.

What’s happening

93.7 KISS Country will select four young people and highlight their agricultural achievements on the radio and online.

Each recipient will also receive a $500 Mastercard gift card. The station identified Hilltop Ranch, Hedrick’s Chevrolet, International Agri-Center and The Big Fresno Fair as contest sponsors.

Entries can highlight students’ involvement in agricultural education, including leadership, community service, awards, skills acquired and plans for a future in the agriculture industry.

“Help us find and reward the Farm-Tastic Four Ag Superheroes in our area,” Andy Winford, Program Director, 93.7 KISS Country/KSKS-FM, said in the release.

Why it matters

The contest is designed to recognize young people participating in agriculture and agricultural education in the Fresno area, providing visibility for students who may become part of the industry’s next generation.

The Central Valley’s FFA, 4-H and other agricultural organizations give young people opportunities to develop skills and participate in agriculture-related activities. The contest specifically seeks stories demonstrating those students’ accomplishments and future plans.
