Gimme Health Foods, Inc., will establish a seaweed food and snack manufacturing facility in Madera, as well as expand its headquarters in San Rafael. This will create 102 jobs across both sites with $20 million in investment.

Kristina Gallagher, director of the Madera County Economic Development Corp., said the company is in the initial stages of scouting locations and cannot purchase a property prior to receiving a state tax credit.

Gimme Health Foods is the maker of the organic seaweed snack brand Gimme Seaweed, founded by Annie Chun and Stephen Broad.

The California Competes tax credits, which are awarded through the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, or GO-Biz, will help bring the new food manufacturer to the county.

The amount of the tax credit from the state is $2.8 million.

California Competes credits have been awarded to more than 1,200 businesses to create nearly 160,000 full-time California jobs and generate more than $50 billion in private investment.
