WestCare California, Inc. will host an open house Wednesday, Feb. 28, for its now fully occupied Gateway Campus, celebrating 50 years in service.

The behavioral health and human services provider will host a brief program in its atrium at 1850 N. Gateway featuring the Vice Presidents Jenny Gonzalez and MaryAnn Knoy, and Chief Operating Officer for WestCare’s Western Region Shawn Jenkins.

Guests will be given guided tours of the two-building complex. A vendor fair will be held nearby at WestCare’s training room located at 1900 N. Gateway Blvd. Booths will provide information about the facilities, programs and additional services throughout Fresno County and California.

“Since our founding in 1974, our organization has evolved from a modest provider of substance abuse treatment into a comprehensive Behavioral Health and Human Services Agency,” said  COO Jenkins. “Our range of services now spans Mental Health and Wellness, Treatment & Rehabilitation, Criminal Justice, Education & Prevention, Housing Opportunities, and Veteran Services.”

WestCare has about 16 facilities in Fresno and approximately 25 throughout California from San Diego to Chico, according to Michael Mygind, WestCare director of marketing in California and Nevada.

WestCare provides a broad range of services ranging from mental health and wellness to treatment and rehabilitation, education and prevention and veteran services.

Mygind said the Gateway Campus features approximately 33,000 square-feet of combined space and will house about six of the services that WestCare provides. Other services are available at WestCare’s additional Fresno locations.

“Having so many different programs next to each other…we’re able to create a wrap-around model of care,” Mygind said. “It’s not a complete one-stop-shop because we don’t offer residential treatment there, but if someone needs multiple services they’re all within walking distance.”

The open house will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the WestCare Gateway Campus located at 1850 and 1900 Gateway Blvd., near the Fresno-Yosemite International Airport.
