Tesoro Viejo is breaking ground Wednesday for the newest addition to the community.
Camarena Health will host a groundbreaking event for the new Wellness Center at the Tesoro Viejo Town Center. Leaders from both Camarena Health and Tesoro Viejo will speak about the project, which is expected to open in 2022.
Camarena Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center that has been serving residents in the Valley for 40 years. Federally Qualified Health Centers are funded through the federal Health Resources & Services Administration to accommodate underserved areas. It provides comprehensive medical, behavioral health, optometry, chiropractic, health education and dental services.
The two-story, 13,000-square-foot facility will offer medical, dental and health education for patients and the surrounding community. There will also be a gym and flexible spaces for group workouts and classes.
Health educators will provide wellness plans that are focused on health and nutrition. They will also offer one-on-one counseling sessions, group sessions and community workshops. It will draw more Madera residents to Camarena Health.
Madera County Supervisor Brett Frazier will highlight the center and how it will create access to health and wellness services for residents in the district.
“It is a real privilege for Camarena Health to be collaborating with Tesoro Viejo on this very innovative project,” said Camarena Health CEO Paulo Soares. “We look forward to helping this community thrive through meeting the health and wellness needs of its residents and their families. I believe this Health and Wellness Center will have a lasting impact on the overall health of this community for many years to come.”
The partnership with The McCaffrey Group will further the development of the new community in Madera.
“We are proud to collaborate with a health industry leader like Camarena Health as they understand the importance of preventative health care and health education,” said Brent McCaffrey, president of Tesoro Viejo. “This facility is the perfect addition to Tesoro Viejo because it supports health and wellness – a cornerstone of the Tesoro Viejo community.”
