In solidarity with local comedy fans, the Visalia Rawhide is adding an event to its promotional schedule for next Tuesday: Angry Comedian Night.
In light of the controversy surrounding comedian George Lopez leaving his show 30 minutes early at Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville on Friday, the Visalia ballpark is letting “anyone with a ticket from a comedy show that was canceled” to show their ticket at the ballpark and receive entrance to the game. This new promotional night is scheduled for Tuesday, June 18 against the Lake Elsinore Storm.
Rawhide jokingly listed “ballpark rules” for newcomers, playing off of the casino show that was cut short.
“If this will be your first game at Valley Strong Ballpark, please be aware of ballpark rules including no heckling; no screaming “I love you” to the players; no offers to buy drinks for any of the staff; no laughing,” they wrote on Facebook.
This past weekend, Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville apologized for George Lopez’s walkout mid-performance during his sold-out show, which was rescheduled after being canceled in April.
Lopez claimed he felt “unsafe” at the venue due to hecklers in the audience. The statement from the casino said Lopez let down his fans by ending the show 30 minutes early. Eagle Mountain offered the 1,800 attendees a full refund.
