(AP) — Viacom’s embattled chief executive has sued to be restored as a trustee and director to entities that control Viacom Inc. and CBS Corp. after a weekend move by media mogul Sumner Redstone that stripped him of the positions.
Philippe Dauman and lawyer George Abrams filed the lawsuit in Norfolk probate court in Massachusetts, saying Redstone was “not mentally competent” and that he is being manipulated by his daughter, Shari Redstone.
The lawsuit’s claim is a change from six months earlier, when Dauman testified that Redstone was “engaged and attentive.” Dauman says in the lawsuit that since then, Redstone has rapidly deteriorated.
It’s the latest salvo in a legal battle over the fortune of the ailing 92-year-old, who requires a feeding tube and round-the-clock care.
