A European company is expanding its presence in the Central Valley with the purchase of a local company.

Oxbo, a Netherlands based farm machinery and equipment company, announced it has acquired Westside Equipment Company in Madera.

With the acquisition, the terms of which were not disclosed, Oxbo aims to strengthen its global fruit business segment, deepen its presence in California and support its mission to be the customer choice for specialized harvesters around the globe.

Oxbo already has a location in Visalia.

Westside Equipment Company was founded in 1986 and began manufacturing machinery for the tomato, nut and vineyard industries in 2001. In addition to Madera, it has locations in Crows Landing, Woodland and Five Points.

Their equipment serves the needs of customers across the globe, including Brazil, Peru, Spain, Israel, Australia and China.

“Westside’s tomato, pistachio, and vineyard equipment complement Oxbo’s industry-leading fruit product line,” stated Roel Zeevat, CEO of Oxbo. “The high quality, specialized products Westside builds for its customers are a perfect fit for Oxbo. Together, our dedicated employees will help us deliver product innovation and superior customer service as we further strengthen our fruit division focused on berry, coffee, grape, olive, tomato, and pistachio equipment.”

Westside will continue operating at its existing facilities, and customers will be able to continue to purchase products and parts through their existing Westside or Oxbo channel.

With the acquisition of Westside Equipment, Oxbo now operates ten manufacturing facilities around the globe.

In June, Westside Equipment purchased Vmech technology, a vineyard machinery manufacturer based in Fresno.

“We share Oxbo’s commitment to reliability, innovation, and customer service, making this acquisition a perfect fit for Westside’s employees, products, and customers,” commented Robert Huckaby, CEO of Westside Equipment Company who will remain onboard with Oxbo. “We are excited to join the Oxbo organization as we grow the business through delivering product innovation and world-class service to our customers.”
