After five years in Hanford and just under two years in Tulare, Quesadilla Gorilla announced Sunday that both locations will close.

The Tulare shop will close Nov. 9, while the Hanford location will remain open until Dec 20.

A message left Monday with Quesadilla Gorilla owner Miguel Reyes was not returned.

“Though we originally planned to keep Tulare open through the end of the year, due to circumstances outside of our control, we’ll be closing a bit earlier than expected,” according to a social media post.

The business reflected on the closures, saying that while it’s “hard not to see it as a failure,” the team accomplished its goal of fostering “connection, laughter and community,” through “dillas and margs” — quesadillas and margaritas.

“Our hearts are full of gratitude for this experience, for our incredible staff who poured their hearts into every shift,” the post read, thanking franchisees Matthew and Amanda for their partnership.

Quesadilla Gorilla will continue to operate its Downtown Visalia, Fresno Tower District and San Luis Obispo locations. The San Luis Obispo location is also franchise owned, under the direction of Michelle Cortez.

The company also plans to open a Clovis restaurant at Willow and Shepherd avenues in early 2026, though it’s not clear if it will be a franchise location.

“We’ve loved every moment of serving this community,” the post read. “Come visit us one last time this week before we close on 11/9, and let’s celebrate the joy and connection this little shop has brought to so many.”

Opening in 2013 in Downtown Visalia, Quesadilla Gorilla owners Miguel and Mikayla Reyes expanded into franchise opportunities in the early 2020s, receiving approval for franchising in California in 2022.
