The Tulare Chamber of Commerce and the City of Tulare announced Monday the grand opening of the Tulare Business Innovation Zone (TBIZ), the area’s first business accelerator.
TBIZ offers a three-year, tenant-based accelerator program aimed at assisting small businesses start, grow and succeed. Featuring private offices, coworking spaces, a makerspace and access to a full suite of support services, TBIZ represents Tulare’s continued efforts to support entrepreneurship and economic growth, according to a news release.
“TBIZ provides entrepreneurs with not just office space, but a full range of wrap-around services — from training and business counseling to peer and community engagement,” said Tulare Chamber of Commerce CEO Donnette Silva Carter. “We’re building a place where microenterprise creation and innovation can truly take root, grow, and flourish.”
Made possible through collaboration between the Tulare Chamber and the City of Tulare, the historic building — formerly the Tulare County Courthouse — has been renovated to serve as a catalyst for small business growth, as well as contributing to the continued goal of downtown revitalization.
“This project reflects our commitment to revitalizing downtown while supporting long-term economic development,” said Tulare City Manager Marc Mondell. “We’re grateful to our City Council, the County, federal partners, and to all the city employees, contractors, and design consultants who brought this amazing construction project into reality.”
The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for TBIZ will take place Thursday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m. TBIZ is located at 425 E. Kern Ave., in Tulare.
