The Tulare County Resource Management Agency (RMA) is warning residents and businesses about fraudulent invoices sent by scammers posing as the Tulare County Planning Commission.
A Tulare County resident recently reported receiving a false invoice that listed charges such as “detailed subdivision layout” and “contract staff & professional consultant fees.” Officials said the invoices are not connected to Tulare County or any of its agencies.
In a news release Thursday, the county emphasized that it does not send unsolicited invoices. RMA invoices are typically sent by mail unless a recipient has specifically requested email correspondence.
Residents and businesses can verify the legitimacy of any invoice claiming to be from a county agency by contacting the RMA at rma@tularecounty.ca.gov or (559) 624-7000.
Anyone who believes they are a victim of this scam should contact the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office of Investigation at (559) 636-5410.
