The communities of Farmersville and Woodlake in Tulare County are two of the state municipalities where new sales and use tax rates will go into effect April 1.

The current rate of 8.25 percent will increase to 8.75 percent in Farmersville, and Woodlakes sales tax will go from 7.75 percent o 8.75 percent, according to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.

The new rates are the result of voter-approved public safety initiatives.
