Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro announced this afternoon that a lecturer who tweeted about the assassination of Pres. Donald Trump has taken a voluntary leave of absence for the remainder of the semester.
Dr. Lars Maischak agreed to the paid leave “in accordance with provisions in the collective bargaining agreement with the California Faculty Association,” according to the statement.
During the leave of absence, Maischak will no longer have a teaching role, but will conduct research off campus.
Substitute faculty have been assigned to teach his History 11 classes for the remainder of the semester.
Castro announced late last week that Maischak’s classes would be cancelled through today “in an effort to minimize disruption and ensure campus safety.”
