In an expansionary move for Fresno-based Broadway Media, the company has announced the acquisition of BodyMics, a New York-based audio and visual media company.
BodyMics, launched in 2007 by Rod Reilly, features plug-and-play audio solutions for stage work and other live presentations needing compact, convenient audio systems.
“For nearly two decades, local theatre producers staging Broadway’s most technically demanding new musicals have found invaluable support in BodyMics Wireless Systems,” said BodyMics founder Rod Reilly. “Integrating BodyMics into stage gear will enhance Broadway Media’s ability to support its nationwide theatre community.”
Founded in 2013 as Broadway Motion Design, Broadway Media provides software and hardware resources for theatrical and other stage presentations, including projected backdrops and other packages for hundreds of shows.
“Community and school theatre face distinct technical and budgetary challenges. Few have budgets comparable to Broadway producers, making BodyMics’ creative solutions particularly valuable to our customers,” said Quinten Sanford, president of Broadway Media. “The acquisition is a pivotal moment for us, carrying forward Rod’s legacy of innovation, creating job opportunities, and contributing to the growth of our Fresno rental division headquarters.”
The acquisition of BodyMics by Broadway Media aligns with Sanford’s vision of dedication towards investing in local theatre programs which can be hampered by a lack of technological accessibility.
In 2022, Broadway Media released the original Broadway “Mean Girls” video design for licensing.
Broadway Media will begin taking orders for BodyMics systems on Feb. 15 according to a report from playbill.com.
