The City of Lemoore is launching a $24 million citywide infrastructure modernization project to transform its power systems.
The city has partnered with Energy Systems Group (ESG), a national leader in performance-driven energy and infrastructure solutions based in Indiana, for the project.
The Smart City infrastructure project ensures resiliency and guaranteed net savings over 20 years from energy and HVAC upgrades, LED lighting, smart water meters, solar PV, and EV charges.
The project is projected to provide the city with more than $14.8 million in net savings.
This includes $876,000 in grants and incentives secured through help by ESG, further reducing financial burdens to the city and residents.
“By investing in smart, connected infrastructure today, we are strengthening essential city services for, protecting our community from rising energy costs, and building a more resilient city for future generations. This partnership reflects our commitment to innovation, fiscal responsibility, and delivering real benefits to our residents,” said Lemoore Mayor Patricia Matthews.
The project will modernize aging infrastructure, improve technology systems, and enhancing the resiliency of critical facilities.
Improvements at the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant include new equipment to increase efficiency and extend the facility’s life, help maintain regulatory compliance, provide backup power generation, provide operational resiliency during power outages, and waste water treatment upgrades to improve water quality and facility capacity.
A press release from the city stated that by integrating energy, water, wastewater, and facility upgrades to a connected digital network, Lemoore is posting itself as a forward-thinking city built for tomorrow.
“This project reflects what’s possible when a city takes a comprehensive, integrated approach to the infrastructure,” Jeff Blum, CEO of ESG said. “By delivering multiple upgrades, through a single, coordinated program, the City of Lemoore is strengthening resiliency, improving backup power for essential services, enhancing water system visibility through AMI water meters, and reducing long-term operational and maintenance demands on City staff.
