On Nov. 4, Fresno tabletop game store Dragon’s Hoard, in partnership with nonprofit Extra Life, will host a 12-hour fundraiser for Valley Children’s Hospital — the first of many fundraisers, store owners hope.
From 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., the store will celebrate the event with 2-hour table gaming sessions, from which 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the hospital. Additionally, $5 dice rolls will take place throughout the event, with guests guaranteed to receive prizes including various restaurant gift cards and other prizes valued $5 or more. In addition to 100% of game revenue donated to Valley Children’s Hospital, half of the dice event proceeds will be donated to the hospital.
“We’re really a community-based gaming [store],” said Dragon’s Hoard co-Owner Brady Baxter. “Any time we can, as a business, gather enough people to make this beneficial to wherever we’re trying to help, we will do it.”
The store is home to 12 “dungeon masters” of the popular Dungeons & Dragons game, all of whom, according to Baxter, have been more than willing to donate their time to the fundraiser and other events hosted at the store; recently, Dragon’s Hoard relocated from their original location into a home with additional retail and gaming space.
Nord Games, a game manufacturer that produces tabletop cards, decks and boxes, is also donating prizes for the event.
The fundraiser is made possible by Extra Life, a nonprofit organization that has raised more than $130 million for various organizations since 2008. The nonprofit is a program of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
“It’s National Game Day Nov. 4, so a lot of streamers, a lot of stores, a lot of community people around the U.S. are putting on events like this and we wanted to be a part of it,” Baxter said.
Dragon’s Hoard is located at 3026 W. Bullard Ave., and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Gamers interested in participating can still sign up for the fundraiser in person or by calling the store at (559) 375-1635.
