A young boy’s dream has come true thanks to the generosity of Sun-Maid Growers of California.

Eight-year-old Andrew, a student at Riverview Elementary in Reedley, was diagnosed with a brain tumor during a routine eye checkup.

With the help of Make-a-Wish of Northern and Central California and Northern Nevada, Sun-Maid was able to surprise Andrew and his family with the trip of a lifetime.

Andrew’s wish was to go on a trip to Hawaii, and thanks to Sun-Maid, he and his family will be going.

To celebrate the upcoming trip, Sun-Maid’s president and team members surprised the boy with a heartfelt send-off at Five Restaurant. Sun-Maid President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Loftus expressed the company’s pride in working with Make-a-Wish to help children just like Andrew.

“Knowing that we could make Andrew’s health journey a little brighter is an honor and a privilege. At Sun-Maid, we are proud to be a part of making wishes come true for these special children,” said Loftus.

The surprise featured a full Polynesian display with authentic dancers, with some unassuming team members joining the festivities by adorning themselves with leis.

Andrew was also presented with a camera, a Nintendo Switch and some Sun-Maid snacks to enjoy during the trip.

Upon Andrew’s return, Sun-Maid will host him and all Central Valley Make-A-Wish kids at its Annual Day of Imagination in Kingsburg on April 28.
