California health officials have recalled products from a local raw milk dairy after links to salmonella cases in Southern California.
The California Department of Public Health issued an Oct. 24 recall of all fluid raw whole milk and cream produced at Raw Farm LLC in Fresno with “best by” dates from Oct. 11 to Nov. 6.
On Tuesday, The Business Journal reported that the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency linked nine cases of salmonella illness to unpasteurized raw milk products from Raw Farm..
The nine San Diego County residents, three of which were children, who fell ill reported consuming Raw Farm products the week before. They have since recovered, according to published reports.
According to the recall sheet, the investigation on the reported salmonella cases is ongoing.
“Raw Farm is working in full collaboration with both the California Department of Food and Agriculture and the California Department of Public Health to return fluid raw milk to the consumers of California as soon as possible,” the recall sheet stated.
The milk was distributed to retail stores including Bristol Farm’s, Lassen’s Natural Foods, Sprouts Farmers Market and more.
A news release from the Fresno County Department of Public Health states that there are no confirmed cases of salmonella in Fresno County with reported consumption of Raw Farm products.
According to the release, the Fresno County Environmental Health Program inspects Raw Farm’s dairy farm and that the milk met all bacteriological standards as of the last sampling performed on Oct. 11.
