The entire team at The Heart Group will be wearing red this Friday to raise awareness that heart disease takes the lives of more American women each year than any other disease or injury, including breast cancer.

When women have a heart attack, they often have chest pain like men. But they can have other symptoms too.

Common heart attack symptoms in women include:

• Pain in the center of the chest
• Shortness of breath
• Uncomfortable chest pressure, squeezing or fullness
• Breaking out in a cold sweat

Symptoms less associated with heart attack that woman may experience include:

• Anxiety
• Upset stomach
• Lightheadedness
• Heartburn, also called indigestion
• Unusual tiredness and weakness  
• Pain in the shoulder, arms, back, neck or jaw

If these symptoms are present, call 9-1-1 immediately.
