Southwest Airlines is expanding its service out of Fresno, adding a new summer route to Dallas Love Field that joins Southwest’s current destinations of Las Vegas and Denver.
Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) announced Thursday that the seasonal service to Dallas will launch June 2024 with one weekly Saturday flight. It’s expected to last through summer 2024, but a precise cutoff date is unknown.
The seasonal nature of air travel means airlines boost certain routes for summer. Southwest currently operates three daily flights to Las Vegas on Saturdays, but one of those flights will end soon, said Vikkie Calderon, airport spokesperson.
As part of today’s announcement, Southwest will bring that additional Saturday flight back in June 2024, Calderon said.
Once daily flights to Denver were part of Southwest’s introductory service when it launched at FAT in April 2021.
“Southwest Airlines continues to meet the air service demands of Central Valley travelers by adding new routes and increasing flight frequencies during peak travel seasons,” said Director of Aviation Henry Thompson. “We extend our appreciation to Southwest Airlines for its continued commitment and investment in the Fresno market.”
Flights from DAL to FAT will depart from Dallas at 8:30 a.m. and arrive in Fresno at 9:50 a.m., with flights from Fresno departing at 10:25 a.m. and arriving in Dallas at 3:35 p.m., every Saturday unless otherwise noted.
