Signage is going up for another recreational cannabis dispensary in the City of Fresno — and one pot mogul is promising to interview potential workers himself.
Renovation is underway for the Cookies cannabis dispensary at 5048 Blackstone Ave. near Shaw Avenue. The store could open before the end of the year, according to a social media post by the local CEO.
Cookies is a cannabis culture brand and franchise founded by Bay Area rapper Gilbert Milam Jr., known by the stage name of Berner.
According to the Cookies’ website, the franchise has 55 stores in four countries.
A post from Berner’s Instagram account last week invited people to apply to work at the Fresno Cookies location. He said he would be interviewing candidates himself.
The commercial cannabis business permit application filed with the City of Fresno in 2020 lists Fresno resident Kacey Auston as CEO with a 51% ownership stake of the venture.
Auston founded Auston Consulting, a business advisory firm.
It’s expected the new dispensary will create 45 jobs with benefits and will serve 18 customers per hour and 250 customers per day.
According to the application, the retail store will be approximately 3,000 square feet, with about 1,700 square feet of front-of-house space.
Messages left Friday for a representative of the Cookies dispensary were not returned.
