A Northern California CPA firm with a presence in Fresno has become the state’s first accounting firm in the state to achieve B Corp certification.

A B Corp is a for-profit business that meets assessments for overall social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. Pleasanton-based Sensiba San Filippo is now one of more than 2,000 certified B Corporations in more than 130 industries and 50 countries.

Sensiba San Filippo gained a Fresno office with its 2017 acquisition of Slater Moffat Associates, LLP.

The businesses are evaluated by B Lab, a nonprofit that bills itself as leading a global movement “of people using business as a force for good,” according to a news release.

Sensiba San Filippo exists to help people. We use our professional and personal skills to improve the lives of our families, our communities, our clients and our colleagues,” said John Sensiba, Managing Partner of Sensiba San Filippo. “Through our service to others, our commitment to integrity, stewardship of the environment, and kindness, we intend to better the lives of those we touch directly. Indirectly, we strive to be a positive force in the global community. The B Corp certification helps us better assess how our core values are aligned with our daily operations and where to improve.
