San Joaquin Valley Town Hall has announced its 89th season with a speaker series designed to “feed your mind” by offering perspectives from a wide variety of subjects, from war and wilderness to resilience.

Discounted tickets are available through June 30. Morning talks are held at the Saroyan Theater in downtown Fresno at 10:30 a.m., while Twilight Talks take place at 7 p.m. at Paul Shaghoian Memorial Concert Hall at Clovis North High School. All of the talks will be streamed live with a language interpreter.

The season opens Sept. 17 with Dr. Ashish Jha, former White House COVID coordinator, speaking on climate change as a public health emergency. On Oct. 15, ABC journalist Bob Woodruff shares his story of survival and global conflict after being wounded in Iraq.

Father Greg Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries, the world’s largest gang intervention program, speaks on Nov. 19 about gang rehabilitation. On Jan. 21, conservationist Dr. Steve Boyes gives the audience a close look into Africa’s Okavango Delta, Africa’s last great wilderness.

Feb. 18 features The Boys in the Boat author Daniel James Brown and Densho Project founder Tom Ikeda, who explore Japanese-American incarceration during WWII. Ken Jennings, the owner of the longest Jeopardy win streak of all time at 74 and current host, appears on March 18, sharing insights on learning and his trivia mastery.

March 24 brings Twilight Talk speaker John Volanthen, famed for leading the Thai cave rescue. The season closes April 15 with Joy Luck Club author Amy Tan, who discusses nature, creativity and mindfulness.
