Saint Agnes Medical Center has named Dr. Bessant Parker, MD, MBA, as its new chief medical officer, adding the seasoned physician executive to its senior leadership team.

Parker brings with him extensive leadership experience, according to a news release, having worked across the country and internationally; most recently he served as co-CEO and chief medical officer of Reset Kidney Health in Ukiah, California. He co-founded the company to expand virtual and at-home treatment options for patients facing chronic kidney disease.

Parker has also served as regional chief medical officer for Adventist Health in Mendocino, Lake and Napa counties.

“Saint Agnes is pleased to welcome Dr. Parker to our Senior Leadership Team,” said Dr. Gurvinder Kaur, MD, MHA, president and market leader at Saint Agnes. “His experience with business development, operational management and physician leadership will be instrumental in supporting our healing mission as we seek to improve access to the highest quality care for our community.”

Parker earned his degree from the University of Ghana prior to moving to the United States to complete his internal medicine residency at Harlem Hospital Center in New York. The center is affiliated with Columbia University.

He later earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is also certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Parker said his passion revolves around developing simple, actionable solutions to complex business and patient care issues, aiming to leverage his experience to support operational quality and maintain high standards at Saint Agnes.
