The San Joaquin Valley Manufacturing Alliance (SJVMA) has announced an agreement with Reedley College to be an educational partner for the Central Valley Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) Chapter.
Operated by the National Association of Manufacturers, FAME is an integrated career pathway program that provides education and training to develop the next generation of highly skilled manufacturing talent through collaborations with manufacturers and schools.
Last November, the FAME program was launched in the Central Valley through SJVMA, which was the first time the program was implemented in California.
The program provides hands-on training to prepare students for careers in advanced manufacturing while addressing the region’s workforce needs.
The local FAME chapter will leverage Reedley College’s technical education programs, as well as provide on-the-job training opportunities across the Central Valley, according to a news release. Students will have opportunities to gain skills and experience needed to thrive in the evolving manufacturing industry.
“Partnering with SJVMA and the Central Valley FAME Chapter is a monumental step forward for both our students and the manufacturing industry in the region. At Reedley College, we are committed to providing innovative, hands-on education that equips students with the skills they need to thrive in today’s workforce,” said President of Reedley College Dr. Jerry Buckley. “This partnership represents a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between education and industry, creating a direct pathway to high-paying, high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing.”
The launch of Central Valley chapter is part of a broader regional strategy aimed at addressing workforce development challenges, with the SJVMA serving as the region’s hub for workforce and training programs in manufacturing.
“The Central Valley FAME Chapter’s partnership with Reedley College underscores our commitment to fostering a skilled workforce that meets the needs of our local manufacturers,” said President of the Central Valley FAME Chapter Stephen Avila. “By combining rigorous classroom education with real-world, on-the-job training, we’re not only preparing students for successful careers but also strengthening the foundation of our manufacturing sector.”
Students interested in pursuing a career in advanced manufacturing are encouraged to apply. Participants will gain hands-on, paid training with leading Central Valley manufacturers while earning a debt-free associate’s degree from Reedley College.
