Local youth now have the opportunity to attend Camp Sunshine Dreams with the “Strikeout Cancer Campaign” created through a partnership with Producers Dairy and the Fresno Grizzlies.

The Strike Out Cancer Campaign was created to support children with cancer in the Central Valley. For every time the Grizzlies strikeout the opposing team, Producers Dairy will donate $20 to help send kids to camp near Huntington Lake.

Producers Dairy’s goal is to raise $12,000 to send as many kids battling cancer and their siblings to camp this summer. The camp is operating again for the first time since the pandemic.

“When I first attended Camp Sunshine Dreams, I couldn’t believe that such a wonderful place existed. Camp was more fun than I could have ever imagined,” stated one camper in a news release. “There were so many fun things to do like arts and crafts, campfires, archery, sailing, time at the waterfront, and a camp dance. My favorite were the campfires! We sang silly songs, watched, and performed hilarious skits and really bonded together as a camp. I think when you’re a kid with cancer, your one wish is to just be normal. For one week, when I was at camp, this wish was granted.”

The Strikeout Cancer Campaign will run for the duration of the 2023 baseball season. The Grizzlies have 40 home games left on their schedule, closing out their season in September.

Founded in 1932, Producers Dairy has actively given back to the community through programs and events with the Fresno Rescue Mission, the Resiliency Center, Fresno Chaffee Zoo and Fresno State.
